Teething
-
We recommend cold teething rings for babies who are uncomfortable while teething. Frozen mini bagels also work well, although they can get a little messy.
-
If your child is particularly fussy or having difficulty sleeping because of teething pain, you may give him/her a dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil). Click here for dosing charts for those medications. If a child will not stop crying even briefly an hour after administration of a proper dose of medication, please contact the office.
-
We do not recommend topical benzocaine (such as Orajel), homeopathic remedies (such as Hyland’s teething tablets), or other over-the-counter teething products.
-
If a child has a fever while teething, he/she likely does not only have teething discomfort.
